Yes, the Swap Magic method definitely works with genuine Japanese PS2 games (e.g. beatmania IIDX, pop'n music). You don't need an HD to use it.

no prob, but I warn u, if it doesn't read ur disc DO NOT TOUCH THE LENS!!!! that was the mistake I made and now I have like mess with it for it to read 1 disc.

can you the games that are acturly imported from japan? also you don't have to download the game from the computer on a dvd or cd disk right? mostly what im trying to say is that can it play the normal japanese games and not one the ones that are downloaded onto a disk? please anser.:]
